It’s been a big year for Sainsbury’s; 2016 saw them acquire Home Retail Group, the owner of Argos and Habitat, making them one of the UK’s leading food and non-food retailers and, in October, a ground-breaking partnership with Euro Garages was announced. The bulk of our estate – a staggering 200 sites, or 60% of our estate – operate Esso forecourts. Esso have always innovated both inside and outside of the petrol forecourt. In the 1920’s their Foden steam tanker delivered fuel to some of the first kerbside petrol pumps, in 1986 they were the first to introduce unleaded fuel and today Synergy-branded (non-steam) tankers are delivering Esso Synergy fuels in countries around the world. We can certainly appreciate pushing boundaries here at Euro Garages.
Operating in the UK since 1897, Shell are a long-established staple of the British forecourt. BP’s history is full of discoveries, starting in 1908 with oil found in a rugged part of Persia after a long and difficult search. Since then, discoveries large and small have fuelled the progress of this company. Their core values – safety, respect, excellence, courage and team work – correlate strongly with our own, making them a valued Euro Garages partner. Currently, 70 sites on our estate – that’s 20% – proudly fly the BP flag.
