Euro Garages rolls on with Greggs deal
27 July 2009
Greggs, the UK's leading bakery retailer, is making its first move into petrol forecourts by partnering with Euro Garages, one of the UK's fastest growing petrol station operators.
The groundbreaking deal with Euro Garages, which has 76 sites across the North West and Midlands, will see the new Greggs store open at the recently renovated Blackford Bridge site in Bury.
The opening of the outlet, which will be only the second to feature the latest concept fascia colour design, follows Greggs' recent expansion into industrial estates and retail parks.
Mike Kavanagh, retail development manager at Greggs said: "Euro Garages is the perfect partner for our ongoing expansion plans. We believe that there's room for significant growth in the petrol forecourt retail sector and they share our own values and have a strong business model.
"We're keen to move to non-standard locations - taking Greggs to where the customers are. This is an important part of our strategy moving forward.
"Euro Garages is renowned for its innovation in this sector and with its large portfolio and well managed, high-quality estate we thought that they were a perfect business for us to trial our first petrol forecourt stores. If this move is as successful as we anticipate, we plan to extend the model to other regions."
Mohsin Issa, director at Euro Garages said: "It's essential for us to strike partnerships with strong brands. Greggs places as much importance on quality of customer service as we do at Euro Garages and this is a crucial factor when continuing to grow the estate."
